NEW GENERATION OF BELARUS

16-04-2010 04:06

NEW GENERATION OF BELARUS Holistic Worldview (ger. weltanschauung)

After "elections" in 2001 Lukashenka announced that his government would be held on three components - local councils, trade unions and youth. Just for a short time there was gone stripping of local councils. Now, for example, among approximately 22 500 members of local councils only 10 people represent democratic society, a percentage measurement is 0.044%. 1 Nothing is said in favor of the fact that after the election marathon in 2010 this percentage will increase. There also was held "researching" of cadres of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus. “Launch pad” of candidate Gancharik came under full control of the guarantor of the Constitution.

To fulfill the third after-election promise before the election campaign in 2006, Article 193.1 of the Criminal Code started its work, which provided and still provides responsibility for activities on behalf of an unregistered organization. The first to come under the innovation were leaders of the Partnership who planned to observe the "elections." The criminal justice system put an end to the activities of the Partnership and this article 193.1 confirmed its effectiveness in the fight against the dissent. The test trials having held, the regime decided to take up the youth. The criminal case against the leaders of Young Front was initiated on the day of dispersal at Kalinowski Square on March 24, 2006, and ended on November 1, when I was fortunate of the two possible years for the article to get a year and a half. Lukashenka was reported on the implementation of his political wishes announced at the meeting of the Security Council in 2004: "I'm not going to let in Belarus activities of such organizations as Young Front and “Bison" - said at that time the guarantor of stability. But reports were premature. The repressive apparatus needed to judge unfairly under Article 193.1 of the Criminal Code another ten Youngfrontees (!) to understand that the third paragraph of after-election program in 2001 would be impossible to fulfill.

Why did quite successful and famous in those times "Bisons" prefer to unloosen and that, on the other hand, allowed Young Front to withstand this test? The answer to these questions should be sought in values foundation.

Many socio-political leaders of Belarus base their programming on a critique of the existing system and the one who has runs this system. It is not surprisingly that youth activists make the main purpose of their activities a protest, which is used in a rather extended opinion: "Throw down (together) Lukashenka and what to do - we will consider later." Both the first and the second forget that Lukashenka is one and the only logical result of our society, a bone from the bone of his people. In 1994 he was elected in democratic elections by an overwhelming majority. Then and even now 2, he embodies the expectations and ideological orientations of the major parts of the Belarusian society. In addition, it is possible that there will be the following, when from a protest-democratic environment in Belarus will come even a worse candidate. We can already hear the voices of those fighting for democracy that Lukashenka takes us to the union state in a bad way, but they, these fighters, will make it better. Even now some of them offer to bring the Russian ruble instead of “mature” "bunny". And what will happen if these leaders set to manage 10 million people? A big question...

For these reasons Young Front has never based its activities on criticism and has not been around the slogans: "Against...!"," Down..." etc. But on the contrary, YF has always made a primary concern for the value aspect, the development of program and strategic documents which would be put not on criticism and only protest, but on the vision of development of Belarus on the foundation of our confessed values - national idea and Christian principles. The famous revolutionary Uladzimir Uljanau said: "The real revolutionary character is determined not by the volume of slogans, but on the integrity of the world."

It is the foundation of values that allowed Young Front to stand on delicate thirteen years’ way at the time when many "mass movements" that were supposed to unite young people round protest slogans and "put an end to the dictatorship, went out, extinguish and will further continue going out when they occur. The activity on the principle: "Let’s unite against” has never brought any results, in any case, positive and long-term results.

There is another very significant factor that distinguishes Young Front from some ideologically similar organizations. The difference is in Christian rod, on which our national idea is based. For the majority of both the protest democrats and nationally oriented Christian Patriots this rod is a "stumbling block" on which many stick and break.

Quite a lot of criticism in that time Young Front got and continues getting, the criticism for the "radicalism", "religious fanaticism", "clerisy", etc. Nevertheless, we stand firmly on the fact that the national idea of Belarus, and accordingly - National Revival, the changes in our country can be based only on Christian values. And only the Christian values can make these changes qualitative in nature and durable over time. Well, for illustration, we choose tomorrow democratic government and replace the red-green flag with a white-red-white one, but drunken people will be more than sober. Will it be possible to talk about any changes in Belarus? Well, we will change tomorrow the language in all schools in the country to the Belarusian language, but “abortioned” children will be more than born.3 Who will learn the language and use it if due to the UN experts’ prognosis the Belarusians are four times fewer to the end of the century? 4 Can we talk about national revival of Belarus? The answers to these questions are obvious: without a spiritual core all our work - just nothing. What difference will be for the Belarusians at the beginning of 22nd century: for what, against whom and under what flag we fought, when there are about two million left?..

In addition to all, the national idea, not basing on foundations of Christianity, takes risk very quickly to become isolated from the life of oppressive ideology. The example of imperial thinking and Russian chauvinism is in front of us.

Our opposing attitude to young subjects of an authoritarian state is also in the ideological sphere, but, of course, in even broader aspects, that puts us in direct and radical opposition (just from Latin. oppositio) to Belarusian regime.

For this reason, it is no wonder why Young Front is in strong and consistent opposition to the current regime. I want here just to point out - it is the regime that we will never call the "power" because the Power - is God's institution, which is set as the Bible says, in order to help those who do good and punish those who do evil.5 If the leader is not only doing quite the opposite, but still he is self-proclaimed6 and, every person has the moral and legal right not to comply with such leadership.7 This is one of the fundamental principles of liberty. John Lock said: "Without freedom to resist illegal authority, all other freedoms are losing their value.” But we talk about a different story, about ideological differences between Young Front and BRUU, pioneers and other descendants of the "October".

At that time when the ideology of Young Front is national in form and Christian in content; BRUU-members and pioneers see themselves as direct successors of the All-Union Leninist Youth Komsomol. That is already a direct response to the question of ideological differences between Young Front and"Lukayouth." How can people cooperate, correlating themselves with Christian values and those who call themselves the founder of the "Red Terror", which urged his followers that robbed the church property: "The greater the number of representatives of the reactionary clergy in this case we can destroy, the better" (V. Lenin)?

But on the other hand, we must understand that the vast majority of the BRUU members do not absolutely realize what values professes the organization, to which they were driven at school or at university. Furthermore, many leaders in the field do not understand that. Even some activists of YF at the time were members of the BRUU. Thus, if we are talking about the possibility of cooperation of such antagonistic unions as Young Front and the BRUU we can only speak about personal cooperation of Young Front with activists and leaders of pioneer and Komsomol organizations. We know about several cases when Young Front leaders in the region were invited to the committee on ideology or the CC of BRUU and offered to support in the implementation of joint programs of belarussization or other campaigns. Naturally, in such cases we did not refuse the cooperation, and consider it effective. Because, firstly, it is completely based on confessed values and, secondly, brings concrete results for our society. And this is not a retreat from our belief, as there was no deviation from His beliefs of Jesus Christ to come into the houses to the Pharisees and convince them his views. The main thing is not to be changed under these values of the world, but to change the world by our values.

One of the objectives of Young Front is not only to lay the foundation of values in the young generation, but to unite around these values other youth organizations of the democratic movement. According to the Young Front information monitoring,8 which reflects the activities of public and political associations in 2009, there are no fewer than 13 youth organizations and initiatives in Belarus. From proclaimed in 2007 "Riot" as well as from 15 independent media during 2009 reminded 8 times to Young Front which activities have been reported 2 485 times in the news over the past year.

In December 2009, Young Front initiated the establishment of the youth coalition "New Generation" which apart from Young Front included eight youth organizations - youth wings of political parties "BPF", BCD, Belarusian Social Democratic Party "NS", the solidarity movement "Together", the independent organizations “Right Alliance”, “Initiative”, “Young Democrats.” The purpose of the coalition “New Generation” is not simply to coordinate their activities during the election campaign for local councils and others, but to do their best to make youth become a serious ideological and political force, which would affect the political process, which was not observed during the presidential campaign in 2001 and somehow occurred during the presidential campaign in 2006. It is absolutely clear that without the consolidation of the youth-potential no serious political campaign can be done in Belarus, not even mentioning presidential campaign in 2011. And our task is to do everything possible to consolidate this potential to mobilize the young generation of Belarusians to the polls and the most important is to defend their votes at the square.

Local "elections" as an opportunity to gain experience

Stage of the consolidation of youth potential in Belarus is the election campaign to local councils in 2010. Naturally, we understand and state that there have been no elections in Belarus since 1994. For this reason, the term "election" we use relatively and totally understand those of our members who refuse to take part in them. On the other hand, it is very important for us not to form only ideologically a new generation of Belarusian society, but actually help our activists to acquire experience in important electoral campaigns. It is obvious that Lukashenka's regime is not long. Has he got a year or eleven left. And we are trying when these changes happen our activists to be prepared for them, they should have experience not only to organize meetings and participate in them, but they should be prepared for serious work, including election campaigns. Otherwise, breaking down this wall for years punching it in the end, we will find ourselves in periphery. At all levels of government there will come officials, repainted ideology vertical, changing the icons BRUU members. The lack of understanding these laws led to the birth of the truth, according to which revolution is made by ones, but the results of its benefit are used by others. We do not want to see that the results of our work are used by someone else. We work and will collect the fruits of achievements on our own.

Calls for opposition

While Lukashenka elegantly realizes the next election campaign, continuing to purge the political field before entering for the fourth time, the democratic movement faces a big challenge. It is formulated as the question of the future existence of the opposition and the forms of existence.

Three five-year periods made a significant effect on the democratic forces of Belarus. There are objective reasons - massive repression against opposition activists, persecution of them and their families, and subjective ones, the main are unwillingness of the leaders of the democratic movement at a crucial moment. All this has led to the fact that we have apathy parties, disorganized and faith lacking supporters of democratic forces. At opposition rallies they did not participate, their campaigns they did not join. The Democrats face the need of reformation of its activities, seeking new ways of cooperation with society and influences on him.

To solve this problem Young Front makes a strategic rate on the implementation of clear, even open-minded people to public campaigns. The example of such a public campaign is “For the Belarusian Language” implemented by collecting signatures. The message in support of the Belarusian language is very simple and positive, many people agree with him. As a result, for the first month of the campaign, Young Front has collected 10 000 signatures. It may seem not much, but it is significant that many people who have never participated in the activities of Young Front join this campaign, collecting signatures for the Belarusian language in their faculties, workplaces. A memorable story occurred when, during the collecting signatures a police officer came to us and asked to form a blank. We gave a blank to him and decided that he went to consult with his superiors and call for backup. But 30 minutes later he came alone and gave me a blank and said: "Here you are, I am responsible for all the data. Blank on both sides was filled with signatures that the officer of MIA gathered at the police station among his colleagues.

This indicates that many ideas of the Belarusian opposition are in great demand in the society, but we should seek ways to implement them. An example of this can served as the initiative for a public campaign to collect signatures in support of a referendum against the increasing customs duties on cars. If voiced by the BPF proposal is provided with workers, it can be implemented without the registration the initiative group by GEC - collecting signatures and significantly increasing the number of the supporters, expanding its position in society. I think that the Belarusian opposition should move in this direction so as not to marginalize, to distribute its value in the society, get new supporters.

However, these measures do not solve the problem of regime change. Of course, if the Democrats are fully aware of their helplessness to restore constitutional order in Belarus, it is better to refuse the participation in all election campaigns and go to hold cultural, social and economic public campaigns. Implementing of this strategy will allow the Democrats more or less happily to continue existing, and even likely, to build capacity, waiting only for Lukashenka to give power under the pressure of biological laws. The main thing is that one of the three sons would not like to head so much again.

If for some of the democratic forces the shift completely in the public area of activity is unacceptable, such entities need to answer the question why they participate in election campaigns? Olympic principle does not work here. For the sake of the salvation of the complete marginalization the Democrats need either completely go into the public sector, or engage in politics, do it so as not to expose another sixteen years for a couple of dozen candidates for the elections to local councils with the number of districts 22500. If the opposition once again selects the Olympic principle to struggle for power, an anecdote that a friend of mine told me leaving for America 10 years ago will come true: Two senior opposition members meet and one to the other states:
Probably, we'll not live to see a regime change.
Yes, we will not live a hundred - answers the other - but children! Children. I feel sorry for children ...

Coalitions and candidates

Perhaps, not wanting to wait for the old age, some opposition politicians have already voiced their desire to bring on a decisive battle the guarantor of the Belarusian stability. The main contenders in the candidates 'election' in 2011 tend to form around them and consolidate the various forces. Consolidation is happening primarily through the creation of coalitions. At present in Belarus, in addition to the above-mentioned youth coalition "New Generation" there three political coalitions - the coalition of the United Democratic Forces (UDF), the European Coalition (EC) and the Belarusian independent block (BIB).

The last three coalitions will put forward main candidates. Already nominated Mikalai Statkevich from the EC , there should be a candidate from the BIB, or on behalf either co-chancellor Vital Rymasheuski, or the chairman of the movement "For Freedom" Alexander Milinkevich, whose thoughts about the need to participate in the election have yet led to a decision to run, Sergei Kalyakin, Anatol Lyabedzka or anyone else - from the UDF. Also there announced ambitious plans a politician of a new generation Ales Mikhalevich, who strongly urges everyone in the ability to collect one hundred thousand signatures, there also announced the nomination of Andrei Sannikau, who consolidates around him the resources of "Charter'97”, some youth initiatives were formed by former" bisons" and some proponents of BPF, and apparently in the end, guessing who is behind the public company "Speak the truth!", waiting for somebody to nominate from this initiative. Thus, on the way on we have at least six persons, who bring some strength and who are ready to fight for the presidential nominee. And in these difficult conditions we have to talk about supporting this or that challenger into presidential candidates.

For Young Front being a fairly self-sufficient and independent socio-political force, the most logical is not to find a candidate, into whose arms to throw, but generate claims to all the candidates. We have already had experience in supporting Gancharik in 2001 and Alexander Milinkevich in 2006. The first dispersed people from the area, crying with his staff: "Go away, we have won!" The other said that did not have anything to the “square”. So, pretty good chances in 2001 and 2006 were lost. Decisiveness and time solve much in politics, if not all. Lack of the first and misunderstanding of the importance of the second led to the failure of the Democrats in the last two presidential campaigns. However, firstly, the 30 thousand that despite all the threats came to the area on March19 absolutely clearly demonstrated - the Belarusian society is ready for changes and has the potential to commit them. Only political leaders turned out not to be ready for the changes. Secondly, “Kalinowski Square" which originated as a reaction to the inaction of leaders, testified that in Belarus there rises a new generation of youth who are ready to assume the responsibility for the fate of the Motherland, the generation that will not obey orders from the party bosses and wait for them being “ripened”.

So for Young Front the most significant is not to support any person, but, as I have already mentioned, the formation of the requirements for the candidates. For us it is primary that a presidential candidate should have a strategy for victory in the elections and implement it on the "Square". Six candidates are running for? Well, we all appreciate and respect you. As well as the representatives of Young Front - Vital Rymasheuski and Ales Mikhalevich, unbending fighter Statkevich and others. Let each of our activists choose whom to collect signatures and whose portraits to paste. But for us, young people, the most important thing that You, candidates, should think not only about how many signatures to collect, but how to put an end to this absurd and stupid 16 years’ period. For us the most important thing is that you would not retreat at the decisive moment, would not betray the people who in spite of the threats of a period of 25 years9 go out to support you. And young people will follow those who would be willing to sacrifice themselves for the sake of confessed ideals of freedom.

Between East and West

During the Belarusian history, which roots go back to the foundation in 9-10th centuries of the Principality of Polatsk, our relations with the West were not so easy. Our first state was raided from the side of Zhmudz, then from Litvins of GDL - Knights of the Teutonic and Livonian Orders, sided from which we, together with the Poles, created a federal state, and those in 1696 made the Belarusian language not-used officially. However, this just happened in our history that most misfortunes and problems came to our land from the east. Students apprised of the number of wars with Russia, we should have made a separate historical discipline; probably that is why our fraternal raids on each other are not taught at school. Since the formation of the Moscow principality, our ancestors Litvins from 1492 to 1537 (for 45 years) participated in five wars with Maskavits at a total length of 19 years. The other nine wars in the next two centuries ended with three sections of the Retch Pospolita and the prohibition not only of the Belarusian language, but also the name Belarus. Rebellions in our lands in 1830-31 and 1863-64 did not make us free, but they demonstrated subdued attitude.

Soviet ethnocide over the next, XIX century, even now cannot be accurately estimated. The Soviet authorities carried out targeted and sustained destruction of the entire Belarus, total national. From the 238 writers during the Stalin era only 20 survived (!).10 But what are the writers during the formation of any nation? This is not just the elite culture and arts, but elite primarily socio-political, which embodies the progressive mood of the society, advocates them and defends. Practically everybody was killed who somehow dealt with the Belarusian national movement, education, science and culture. Lost their lives 90% of the Academy of Sciences, the majority of teachers of BSU, employees of the Opera and Ballet House, the State Philharmonic, almost all the organizers of the Belarusian political, scientific and cultural life of the 20-ies were killed. Only in the night October 29-30, 1937 in Minsk 103 (!) Belarusian intellectuals were executed by NKVD - public figures, scholars, cultural figures among whom were 22 Belarusian writers.11 4 000 out of 12 000 teachers were shot, according to historian of the era of Soviet terror Leanid Makarau: "They shot mostly only teachers of the Belarusian language and literature, history. Teachers of exact sciences for some reason were not affected.12 Alexander Solzhenitsyn said: "To destroy a people, we must remove it from the roots."

And now when I hear about "the unity of the fraternal peoples”, our age-old "common history" I feel sorry to the interlocutor for a minimum. Our "common history” with Russia seems to me in the next image. There comes a neighbor to his neighbor and says. - You will live with me! - The other to him. - No, thanks, I have my own farm, my kids grow up. - She says, and points to the three guys and a carriage with two girls, a baby in the middle of the hut. Then the neighbor pulls out his revolver shouting. - And now you will! - Fires in her eldest son. A child drops dead and his mother dropping on her son's body, cries. - No, I will not! Then the neighbor with a crazy face shoots at the middle son and roars. - You will live with me!? Mother in a terrible horror screams. - No, cannibal, I will not! - Then the neighbor directed the revolver at her youngest son and bloody smile requests. - So you'll live with me or not? Already crazy-going mother rushes to the last son and covering him with her own chest, exhales. - Yes, I will. They live in such a way a year, two. In the end it takes a long time. Sensing a quick death, the mother decides to tell her children about who is really the man they called the "father". Having learned the awful truth of the children ordered the neighbor to go away in his house. However, he is seriously shocked, begins to scream. – Why did it happen? I brought you up! We have been living for 70 years together in one house! We are with you - one family!

What for am I writing in this article these things? Finally to admit my position – we cannot have another eastern vector, which would not be expressed in equal, mutually beneficial relations with the Russian Federation. According to IISEPS for December, 2009 54,6% of Belarusians are against unification with Russia. However, it is only 30,3% of citizens say that nothing - neither economic benefits, nor "common history", nor the presence of external "enemies" will increase their desire to once again "join" a neighbor. 30,3% - few or a lot for the country, where the name of Stalin is being restored,13 Kastus Kalinowski is considered to be a "fiction" nationalist, and Muraueu-hangman a good administrator?14 15 I think that a lot. A third of the society that believe strongly in their views are not so bad for today's Belarus.

If there is no way to the east, then we will go to the west, many people think. Ten years ago, at the beginning of my activities in Young Front, I thought in the same way. Europe and the European Union seemed to me the only salvation from the deadly embrace of a "big brother". Some time passed, I lost some illusions and gradually changed from Euro-optimist to the Euro-skeptic. This process is affected primarily by evaluative factor, which is increasingly becoming blurred in the modern European civilization. My understanding of Europe was and is not a community of countries, governments or presidents, but the civilization based on a cultural foundation, spiritual foundation of Christianity. Foundation without which there would not be Europe itself. According to Samuel Hantington: "Of all the objective elements that define a civilization, the most important, however, is religion. / ... / It is the central, defining characteristic of civilization. The great religions are the basis on which stick (rest) great civilizations."16 However, great Christian civilization gradually renounces its religion. Yesterday’s Christian values – self-sacrifice and unselfishness become an unnecessary burden to society, and the fact that yesterday was shameful - euthanasia, abortion, homosexualism, the use of drugs - the achievements of progressive mankind. Unsurprisingly, the physical degradation follows the degradation of spiritual values. In 1960, the Europeans, together with the American continent and the Australians, numbered 750 million people, accounting for 1 / 4 of 3-billion population. In 2000, people of European origin were 728 million people, accounting for 1 / 6 Earth's population, in 2050 there will be 600 million, that will account for 1 / 10 of all of our planet.17 If this process is not stopped nowadays, the liberal advances of Western civilization will have its decline.

Therefore, Young Front puts the accession of Belarus to the EU in direct dependence on the Christian values on which the image of the European civilization was formed. One of the policy documents of Young Front says: "Talking about the desire to join the European Union, we point out that Belarus has always belonged to the Christian European civilization and our legal return to the family of European peoples can only be based on spiritual foundation."18

Many people, speaking for the accession of Belarus to the EU, argue that the return to Europe will automatically make us rich. But hardly an ordinary member of agro-industrial complex of Belarus will drink less "Maksimka", but more work just because of the fact that his farm will change residence from the Union State into the European Union. The sociologist and philosopher Francis Fukuyama says that economic life is deeply rooted in social life and it cannot be understood apart from the customs, morals and the foundations of a particular society - in one word away from its culture. "Japan, Germany and the U.S. became industrialized countries due to the fact that there was healthy support in the form of social capital and socialization, and not vice versa."19 - Claims Fukuyama, according to whom social capital - a set of cultural values, such as - religion, traditions and customs. He explains that in Belarus there are other cultural traditions than in Germany or the U.S.

The fact that it is not so simple in economic policies of the European Union, we can be persuaded with the example of post-Soviet republics. For example Lithuanian citizens complain about estates bought up by western countries, industry, and economic diktat. In fact, who would like a situation where people are going to referendum, and nearly 90% (!)20 votes are opposed to the closure of the Ignalinski plant, but Brussels insists on it and the Government of Lithuania, burdened by their responsibilities to the EU, cannot but obey. It all makes one think of an obsessive desire to hide under the tutelage of European peoples and to get there economic prosperity. Independence is when you decide and you carry responsibility for it. And if decisions are made for you - it is a form of subordination. And what a difference to me, who will guide me, our people and country in which we live - a Kremlin official or a bureaucrat from Brussels? For me it makes no difference. As evidenced by the data of sociological surveys, it is as well as for much of the Belarusian society.

Thus, according to IISEPS for December, 2009 63,4% of citizens agree that improving the economic situation is more important than independence and 28.2% say that more important independence is. It is interesting here that there is no difference between the answers of respondents from different age groups. Thus, in the first age group, 18-19 years, the independence of countries is considered high priority by 29,5%, while in the last age group - 30.3%. And also there not observed a linear trend in the analysis of education of respondents. Thus, independence is more important for people with primary education - 37% and with high -30.1%. This suggests that among the supporters of Lukashenka, and among supporters of the democratic movement is approximately the same number of people who either while merging with Russia, or the EU would be guided only by economic interests.

But the indicative distribution of answers to the question on the definition of the way of Belarus: 20,7% want to go on the trampled with corpses soviet way, 23,6% are trying to take the path of Europe and 55% choose their own path of Belarus. Obviously, not all of the adherents of this figure for a renewal of GDL, but even if only half of the 55% - it's certainly a very large part of society, who like neither Soviet way nor European.

If we talk about the need to insure ourselves against possible aggression from Russia, as the evidence of Russia’s occupation of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, and even the fear of Lukashenka21, the format for events is possible, Belarus, first of all, needs to join NATO. This is evidenced by the example of the former "Warsaw Pact” and Baltic states, which previously applied for accession to NATO, and then to the EU. Moreover, NATO currently has first no military burden, but political one, in the form of guarantees the territorial integrity of each member of the Alliance. At that time, as the European Union transforms from political to cultural - forms the cultural principles of the European peoples, and economic - control monetary policy, fiscal, agricultural and others.

Despite the current Lukashenka’s relations with the West, it is possible that the process of westernization will begin immediately by chief defender of Russian land forces from NATO. This is not the most mythic turn of events, if we recall the testimony of the first Foreign Minister of Belarus Pyotr Krauchanka, according to whom Lukashenka himself tried to negotiate about the accession to NATO.22Obviously, the head of Belarus will do just everything to preserve his personal power or, at a critical moment, would guarantee him immunity. But the last can be guaranteed only by the civilized West. Confirm that with the examples of Shevardnadze and Kuchma.

If case when such changes of foreign policy are held, the democratic forces, of course, must support them. In our activities we must be guided primarily by national interests of Belarus, and not short-term protest slogans. As we argued for the independence of Belarus 14 years ago, when Lukashenka was creating a union state, so we support the independence of our country now, at the time when calls for autonomy are made by the chairman of the High Supreme Council of the Union State. So the democratic movement, each organization itself and leader personally should see the strategic vision of the development of Belarus which was surely based on national interests of our country, not the interests of Moscow, Brussels, Washington. Still the number of such leaders in Belarusian politics is not big, otherwise they will live abroad. But they still exist. A New generation rises - slow but powerful force which brings the inevitable hour when Belarus is really restored, self-sufficient and independent.
